The Olympics are over, Team USA kicked butt, and we no longer have to be infuriated by sub-par performance on the part of NBC. Here is a rundown of the current Colorado lift tickets offers that I am aware of. Let me know if you have any others I should put on here.

US Ski Team continues to have strong showings - good job Bode. Glad to see you finally got a gold.

I skiied Copper on Thursday and Loveland on Friday. Conditions were great at both places. Probably even more so over the weekend, but I heard traffic was a total nightmare. I personally think the Central Mountain ski areas are in trouble. I-70 traffic is causing me to lose interest in a sport that I love. Last year I went once. This year has been 3 days so far - shooting for 8. But if I can’t go mid-week, it is not likely I will go on a weekend. The traffic is ruining it for me.

Congrats to Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso for going 1-2 in the women’s Olympic downhill in Vancouver.

I am sorely disappointed in NBC’s Olympic coverage (as I am every time they do the Olympics). Thank goodness for the Internet and live streams of other networks. EuroSport had outstanding live coverage. NBC should stop attempting to cover the games.

$15 lift tickets at Loveland on Thursday, January 14. I was already going to use one of my 4-pack tix, and it is supposed to snow up there tonight and tomorrow.

2009-2010 Colorado Ski Area lift ticket pricing has been updated. Surprisingly, not too many price increases from last year. However, I am still trying to understand why the larger areas try to hide the window rate from the public. If you are ashamed of your prices, then stop charging so much.

Get your Two for one tickets to Echo Mountain (2 for $45) - limited supply, better hurry.

Want a half price ticket to Monarch? That’s right, ski Monarch for $27.00. Head over to this website and buy ‘em up. Or get 2 Ski Cooper lift tickets for $42!. That’s a 2 for 1 to Ski Cooper. I don’t expect these will be around long. I’ve never skiied Monarch, but hope to this year. And if you have a family of intermediate ability, Ski Cooper is a great value at this price!

2009.10.06

Ski season officially starts tomorrow with the opening of Loveland. It’s their earliest opening in 40 years. Hopefully this means we have a killer winter in front of us!

Congratulations to Lindsey Vonn for winning the World Cup Downhill title and becoming the only US woman to win the World Cup Overall title twice.  Hopefully she can win the Super-G title this week.

My wife had a wonderful time at Monarch over the weekend. She stayed at Ski Town Condos, right on Monarch Pass, and enjoyed the optional wine-tasting that is a lodging option. The proprietor is a fun person to hang out with, and made sure my wife and her friends enjoyed themselves. Looks like we might be going up there in April. I can’t wait, always wanted to ski there.
